Our Club has a new President!
It is with great pleasure that we announce that Peter Morgan has accepted the invitation of the Management Committee to become our next BLTSC Club President.
Peter is a long time member (since about 1971), and regular squash player.
The role of Club President is largely ceremonial and comes with a three year tenure. We say a big thank you to Sue Grimwood, our out going President and we extend a warm welcome to Peter in his new role.
Please wish him well as our new President: a responsibility that sits alongside his role of one of our four BLTSC Trustees.
BLTSC Mangement Committee
We’ve been open over a week and things are working well- yippee and phew!
Members and their guests are observing our one way system, social distancing, and our new court booking policies. We have asked our members to use common sense with tennis ball policy and hand hygiene: thank you to everyone for their efforts.
The Club’s Management Committee (MC) will meet next Tuesday 26.05.20 to review our ‘COVID framework’ . The MC will consider if any further alternations can or should be made to our existing arrangements . Our priority is to follow the Government guidelines and those of our National Governing Body- the LTA- and ensure we provide everyone on site with the safest place to enjoy outdoor tennis.
At this time when outdoor tennis- albeit in a limited manner- is open to all of us, it could be the moment for you and your family to reconnect with tennis or take it up as a new sport.
So, if you’re interested in playing- in whatever form- please contact our office on firstname.lastname@example.org
We would love to hear from you and see how we can get you, your family and or your friends on court.
What’s stopping you?!
Following Government and LTA guidance this week, BLTSC will reopen this Thursday 14th for outdoor tennis.
Our members can play 2 per per court only or four members max if you are from the same household.
A booking system will operate . Turn up and play is not an option for now.
The office remains closed and all bookings will be by email only- do not call the office and expect a response.
The measures we are putting in place are to provide members with a chance to get back on court and hit some balls, whilst staying safe. Obviously- for this to work members MUST follow the framework we’re putting in place.
A detailed email has gone out to member so everyone knows how to get booked in for play.
The Management Committee will be testing that our measures are being working and will regularly review their effectiveness.
So, now is the time to blow the dust off your tennis racket, or if you’re a squash member: get into the loft and find one!
We also have a dedicated practice wall area that is bookable!
BLTSC are following the Government’s guidelines and, like all other tennis clubs, have closed BLTSC until further notice.
If you’re an existing member of BLTSC you will know what a sad impact this had personally.
If you are considering membership, all is not lost. We’ll be back in business as soon as it is safe all of us to get back to the games we love. We have had no reported cases of Coronavirus amongst members, however, when the time comes to reopen, the welfare of our members will be our primary concern. We’ll open when we’re told we can- by the Government, the LTA and when we’re ready: so that means when it’s safe for all of us.
BLTSC Management Committee
Everyone is welcome to our first free open day of 2020.
It’s between 10am and 1pm on Sunday 15th March… Our tennis and squash courts will be available free for visitors. There’ll also be free coaching for young and old, beginners and experts.
So, why not come along?
There will be lots of free activities on the day: enough for all the family. We’ll even provide rackets, so just come in your trainers.
BLTSC has 12 outdoor and 2 indoor tennis courts; and 3 squash courts. If it’s raining- no matter- we’ll be inside!
Our outdoor tennis courts are 3 different surfaces – clay, hard, and new artificial grass. 6 courts are floodlit so we can play outdoors until 10pm all year round.
In tennis, squash and racketball we have very active box leagues so you can get a lot of competitive play if you want. In tennis there are over 80 singles box league players, and over 40 mixed doubles box league players.
We run a wide variety of tennis classes: from Tots (age 3) through to adult beginners so there’s no excuse no matter what your age or ability. It’s a great way to get fit and meet new people.
In addition we have free pool, free table tennis, free wifi, free BT Sport and bar (not free!) in the club house.
If you do decide to join our club on the day, there’s a discount to the usual membership.
For more information contact Helen, Josephine or Sue in the office – call 020 8460 0936 or email email@example.com.
