BLTSC Junior Performance squads

Junior Performance Squads

September 2016 saw the start of our weekly BLTC Junior Performance Squads:  Red, Orange and Green squads that are funded by BLTSC as part of a long term plan to support and develop our young talent.

The club has committed to a minimum of five years support for the initiative. Our coaching team selects participants based on their abilities and commitment to tennis. In return for these funded Junior Performance squads, players agree to represent BLTSC in junior team competitions. Our target is to double the number of our junior teams by September 2017.

Keep your eyes out for our young  ‘Squaddies’ – each of them has been provided a coloured t-shirt according to their group with ‘@BLTSC Performance Squad’ across the front.

Please lend them your support: we want them to be them taking up Adult team places in the not too distant future!

This is the Club’s invitation to Jason and his team to create the squads and select the players

BLTC has been considering how it could structure a junior player initiative: we have a long term vision to support performance players coming through at each age that are part of BLTC’s competitive framework. Previously we have direct funded 3- 4 promising juniors with great success, each having gone on to represent our club and Kent County in competition.
At this time we would like to involve a wider group of players by creating and fully funding three new performance squads: potentially supporting up to 30 junior players! Please can the your Coaching team now start things in motion and select the players?  As we have discussed, to be eligible players will need to be training twice weekly already, be a club member and be willing to play team tennis for Bromley Lawn. The invitation for players will be offered for a year initially with reviews thereafter. We are very committed to supporting players and their families and to making this initiative work long term so funding has agreed for the next five years.

We want to ensure the current profile of BLTC’s junior performance players continues to flourish alongside team success for the club: so our target for year one is to double our junior teams. The Club will also work to promote the profile of our junior teams successes and player achievements.

This strategy is bigger, longer term and a much larger investment than previously, as such it is possible that after year one we choose to refine or alter how it is structured. With the current success of British Tennis, it is a great time for the Club to be combining with your coaching team to support and develop promising junior players in this way.

To help make the squads more visible to the wider membership, the Club would also like to provide a BLTSC Performance squad T shirt to each player.
